Faces.com is a Service that allows you to build and communicate with your network of friends and colleagues in very powerful ways, via messaging and information sharing. The site is designed to allow members to view each others' profiles, communicate with old friends and meet new friends on the site, share photos, post journals and comments, display classified advertisements and describe their interests. Faces.com is also designed to facilitate communication, information sharing and introductions among people in the same network (i.e. your "1st level" contacts such as friends, family members, work colleagues, etc. as well as the extended group of people you are connected to through these 1st level contacts).

To allow such interaction Faces.com encourages you to disclose certain personal information to fully utilize its messaging services. Privacy and the sharing of this information is always a delicate issue, however Faces.com cares deeply about the privacy of members’ information and we make it our highest priority to protect the privacy of our members. So that you can have confidence in Faces.com and so that you have an understanding of how Faces.com uses information collected on the website we have drafted this privacy document. It outlines the types of information Faces.com collects and how that information is utilized within the site.

Faces.com will adhere to this policy when dealing with any information collected within the Faces.com website. The information will only be used to provide you with an enriched and finely personalized experience within the site. No personal information collected from our members will ever be sold or leased to any third party without the proper consent.

Any questions regarding this privacy policy should be sent via Faces.com’s Contact page (http://www.faces.com/Edit/Common/ContactUs.aspx).

What information we collect and what it is used for

Registration

You need to provide an email address that can be verified, a "screen name" and a password during the registration phase of your membership. We’ll also suggest you provide certain personal information, such as: first and last name, home country and zip/postal code, birth date and gender. Screen names are used to provide a unique account with which you can access Faces.com and to create the web address (URL) for your home page: http://screenname.Faces.com. So accordingly, your screen name will be visible to anyone who visits your Faces.com home page.

Your e-mail address is used to identify you in our system, to contact you regarding your activities on the Website (including, but not limited to, confirmation e-mails or important news affecting your relationship with Faces.com, as well as to gather feedback via surveys to enable us to improve our site according to your needs). We also use your email address to forward messages to you from other Faces.com members.

Your first name, gender, zip/postal code, city, state and country may be viewable by other Faces.com members. (For U.S. addresses the city and state are derived from the zip code.) Faces.com provides you with mechanisms to control whether other registered Faces.com members can view your last name, e-mail address and age on your personal profile page, and you can limit access to specific groups of members (see Your Profile Page section below). Note that even if you restrict who can see your last name, your direct contacts can always see it, and people who already know your last name can find you in searches by searching for your first and last name.

Faces.com will never share your personal information with any non-registered user of our site nor any third party company or person without your explicit consent. Note also that we require prospective members to confirm the e-mail address provided at registration, this prevents someone from registering with another person's e-mail address. People that do not know you or not part of your social group do not have access to your email address.

Contacts' Information

Building and interacting with your network of friends is a key facet of the Faces.com experience. When inviting another person to register for our site and join your network of friends, we will ask you to provide that person's e-mail address or Instant Messenger ID, and the nature of your relationship (e.g., brother, friend, co-worker, etc.) with that person.

We will automatically send your friend a one-time email inviting him or her to visit the site. We store this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email and tracking the success of our referral program. Your friend may contact us at http://www.Faces.com/ContactUs.aspx to request that we remove this information from our database.

We also use this information to group your friends within your network and allow you to control information/content visibility by relationship category (i.e. you may post an update to your photo album and only want your family to be able to see the photos, this feature is fully customizable.)

Your Profile and the Myfaces Page

So that other members can find you using the search function your profile page must contain information about you, other users may then invite you into their network. User Profile information including members' pictures and first names are displayed to people in order to facilitate user interaction in the Faces.com social networking community, the closer another user is to you in the social network the more information they can access about you – remember that you control the amount of information displayed . If you choose to upload a photo of yourself, it may also be viewable by all Faces.com members.

At all times you will control which other information appears on your Profile page, although your last name is always visible by your 1st level friends, people outside your 1st level group will not see anything other than your first name, friends of friends will also see your last name initial [for example: your first level friends will know you as Jack Flash, the friends of your friends will know you as Jack F. and anyone else outside that group will know you as just Jack] Profile information may include the following: occupation, parts of your home address, phone numbers, e-mail address(es), Instant Messenger IDs, personal interests and anything else you choose to share.

Through the Profile page, you control the information displayed in your profile and, as a result, determine who can find you in searches for specific profile information (although anyone who knows your last name can search for it and find it, even if you restrict access to it). Providing profile information is optional; however it enables Faces.com members to better identify each other and more effectively connect and interact with their network.

We may use some of this information to provide you with a customized or personalized view of the Site which will cater for your interests, Faces.com will only share anonymous and aggregated demographic information with advertisers. (i.e. without telling the advertisers your identity). One of the reasons we may do this is to increase the likelihood that our advertisers' goods and services will appeal to Faces.com's users, so that we may target specific ads at specific demographic groups. Subject to the rest of this privacy policy, our sharing of demographic information with advertisers is anonymous (i.e. we do not tell advertisers which particular Faces.com users are members of which demographic groups, although if you respond to an advertisement it may indicate to an advertiser which demographic group you belong to].

Your Group of Friends

Creating groups of friends is another important part of the Faces.com experience; you can invite friends who share similar interests to join your group. When you create a group, we may ask you to provide information to identify the group, such as a group name, a unique abbreviation and a brief description of the group. As a group member, you can restrict members of the group from contacting you or seeing information and content you've uploaded to the Faces.com Service.

If you use a bulletin board or chat room on this site, you should be aware that any personally identifiable information you submit there can be read, collected, or used by other users of these forums, and could be used to send you unsolicited messages. We are not responsible for the personally identifiable information you choose to submit in these forums.

Cookies, Tracking and Site Operation

Faces.com uses cookies and web log files to track site usage. Cookies are an essential part of this Service. A cookie is a tiny data file that resides on your computer and allows Faces.com to recognize you as a member when you return to our site using the same computer and web browser. It also allows you to remain logged in to the Faces.com website. Unfortunately, if your browser settings do not allow cookies, you will not be able to use our website. Cookies also help us understand how members use Faces.com, which allows us to continually improve the Service. Like the information you enter at registration or in your Profile, cookie and log file data is used to customize your experience on the web site.

One type of cookie, known as a "persistent" cookie, is set when you log in to your Faces.com account if you check the "remember me" box. Additionally, if you log out of the Faces.com site you will need to re-enter your password the next time you visit in order to log in to your account. Another type of cookie, called a "session" cookie, is used to identify a particular visit to the Faces.com site. Session cookies expire after a short time (usually 20 minutes) or when you close your web browser.

Due to the communications standards on the Internet, when you visit the Faces.com web site we automatically receive the URL of the site from which you came and the site to which you are going when you leave Faces.com. We also receive the Internet protocol (IP) address of your computer (or the proxy server you use to access the World Wide Web), your computer operating system and type of web browser you are using, as well as the name of your ISP. This information may be used to analyse overall trends to help us improve the Faces.com Service, but is not linked to personally identifiable information in any way.

In addition, you understand and agree that Faces.com will use aggregated data collected from you and other users for statistical and analytical reporting purposes.
